Celtic Festival
Plan to spend the whole day in downtown Roanoke. Before and after the
McDonald's St. Pat's Parade, join us at the Celtic Festival -
it'll be full of activities. The festival will be open from 10:00am -
5:00pm. Including great music from three great bands plus the pipe bands
from the parade, great food, merchants,
beverage – both soft and adult, the Bonniest Knees contest, a children's
play area and more.

Second Wynde Sails - Again!

Once again Roanoke's legendary Celtic band Second Wynde, originally formed in 1990 and led by Jim Baldwin, comes out of "retirement" one more time! The whole gang will be there and they claim to be ready for a wee good time. We can't wait! Oh yea, they promise to bring their dancers too.

Bonniest Knees Contest
Get this - men in kilts, blindfolded female judges feeling their knees. All
for a trophy, bragging rights, a photo opportunity and fun. We're searching
for the Bonniest Knees in the Valley. If you've got what it takes to win
this contest be certain to sign up at the merchandise sales table at the
festival – there will be a limited number of contestants so don't be shy.
If you'd like to shave those bony (sorry that's bonny) knees, we'd really
recommend it!
(Approx. 3:30pm at Celtic Festival)

Viking's of the Valley
The Viking's of the Valley will be setting up a special Children's activity
area at the Celtic Festival. They'll be in Viking garb, set up
their Viking Longhouse after it's cruise in the parade, they will bring in
their 14' Viking ship. They will assist children in making their own Family
Shield and a Family Runestone (rune comes from the Goth word meaning secret)
using ancient Viking alphabet and it's all free.
